After hitting the 30 milestone I decided that I had one nagging dream I had yet to fulfill, the dream of traveling to the far corners of our planet.
So I began saving and planning, and saving and planning some more. It took me a little over year to save up what I felt was enough money to take a year off to travel around the world.
Once it was almost time to take off I told my friends and family my plans than began to liquidate my life! I sold or gave away most of my clothes and furniture. I got my whole life down to 3 suitcases and 4 boxes. These few precious items have been put in storage and now my life consists of living out of one backpack.
I have on the road since April 03, 2011.
I have visited 26 countries and still counting. I have never been happier!!

I am by nature a closet Frolicker. I do it powered by my profession as a consultant. As far as I am concerned the only restriction is time. Some time ago I used to be a Travel Agent but that was just to pay bills (especially dog food!). I am on the road 200+ days a year. An indication of my trip schedule is the one that comes up this week.
SEA-ATL-DUB-STN-SXF/TXL-LHR-SIN-IST-TXL-MAN-DUB-BOS-SLC-SEA. All in 2 weeks.
So if our paths cross and I hope they do… we can have a drink and share stories.
Cheers!
I say let your inner FROLICKER out of the closet! Wow I can’t even begin to guess half of those airport codes! I hope you are accruing millage points for your personally frolicking times! Please keep in touch, you never know where out paths might cross
I love the name of your blog! Very catchy
Looking forward to reading about your travels!!

Hey! I love your site! I was wondering if you had a post about how you packed for all your different trips, essentials, don’t needs, etc? I constantly over pack and am very interested in traveling for an extended period of time and was wondering how you did it. Any tips and experiences would be appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I have never published a packing list. I am a horrible packer. Even after 2 years on the road I personally think my bag is way to big and filled with useless stuff. Maybe I will get around to making one for my next trip
Until than I would recommend you check out the site Travel Fashion Girl She has tons of packing lists for specific trips and destinations.
wow, u r one brave soul! To save, then take off just like that and travel the world. i’ve been halfway around the world on my vacations, from asia to europe and to north america (oahu, california, new york, florida, etc, etc) then back to canada. someday i want to visit maui and u be our tour guide, ok? when we go to canada west and then to the islands of hawaii, someday soon. see u in maui!
