It’s Moments Like This…

That Make Traveling Priceless!

A few months ago I had a three night layover in JFK on my way back to Maui from Europe. I have old friends and family that live there but for whatever reasons our schedules just couldn’t match up. Yet, a handful of traveling friends I meet halfway around the world in Thailand carved out time to frolic with me.

Maybe it is our joint understanding of what it is like to be plopped down in a city with no real plans… Or maybe it is the sense of adventure and wanderlust we share… Honestly I think it is just a constant urge to keep that feeling of being on the road alive even though you might be home that makes travelers so quick to make time for their friends from far-flung place.

Fluent In Frolicking

Left to Right: Me, Maria, Alex, Brock & Tom

So that is how I ended up spending the night with Tom (An Aussie friend I met in Bangkok who I traveled to both Chiang Mai and Pai with) who was staying with Brock (Who we meet together at the Spicy Pai Hostel) who was also hosting Alex (A German Brock had crossed paths in Malaysia and Thailand before really making friends in Vietnam) and Maria (Another friend of Brock’s who he met in Asia who also happened to be from NYC) in Brooklyn!

Isn’t the world is marvelous?!

I’m about to fling myself out there on to the open road again and was procrastinating looking back at old photos instead of packing. The memory of this night put to rest any trepidations I might have been having about leaving normalcy again! I think I might have needed the reminder and I’m so glad I stumbled onto it.
