Heavenly Hana in Maui
I like to think that I have traveled to a good portion of our planet. I have seen amazing monuments, wonders of the world, famous architecture and glorious landscapes. Yet no place compares to the small town of Hana on my home island of Maui.
This magical place is located on the eastern coast of the island. To get there you must take a 52 mile journey that can often take over 2 hours. It is a one lane road, with 600 hairpin curves and 54 vintage bridges. I have taken this journey countless times and it is well worth it every time! In fact every time I come home it is really the only place that I really want to go!

Hamoa Beach

Plumaria Heaven

Still Life

Butterfly Magic

Fire Blossoms

I just can’t get enough of Hamoa
Editor’s Note: All these photos were taken with my iPhone 3G using the Hipstamatic application. This post is another example of how fun iPhoneography can be.

Wow – Awesome shots! Thanks for sharing
When I visit, I hope you can show me some of the magic of this island! Oahu didn’t seem to compare with the beauty of Maui. Looks like I need to go back! (ps. I like the tag “Travel Porn” for this post!! lol)

Anytime I am in Maui you are welcome to visit! I love playing tour guide it makes me do all the things I wouldn’t do on my own! Oahu has its place but Maui is No Ka Oi!
I’ve heard so much about Hana in Maui and I really would like to visit there! I heard the road to Hana is breathtaking, and I even caught wind of a hostel that’s made up of all treehouses there. Have you ever been there? Cheers!
Jill
I’ve never been to a treehouse hostel out there but I do know of a few guesthouses that are treehouses and I know of some really good wwoof projects in Hana. If you do indeed make it that way let me know if I can be of any help! Where are you these days?
Thanks! I will definitely get in touch if I’m ever in Maui. Right now I’m visiting with my family in Chicago, but I head back to the Big Island of Hawaii next week for the summer (maybe longer!)

I really like the first picture of the beach! Never been to Hawaii, but I’d sure love to go someday.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment. That beach is one of my favorites on the whole island. The fact that I go to Hana rarely makes a trip to Hamoa that much more special.
We love Hamoa too and so does Dr. Beach. It’s #5 on his list year. Expect to see that beach a little more crowded.

#5 shhh don’t tell the whole world
I wish Maui could be kept more of a secret
That is why we love the highway and it’s reputation. Those that do try to visit will turn back long before they get there. It’s also great for keeping the developers out too. Thank the demi-god Maui for keeping your favorite a little beach a little less crowded for years to come!

I thank the demi-god Maui for lots of things!
