Food Porn: Best Hummus Of My Life

Antakya is a city in southern Turkey near the border with Syria. This city has historical significance for Christianity as it is supposedly the spot where the followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians.

I’m not here to talk about religion. I am here to talk about food. The food in this region is unlike the food in the rest of the country it is considered leventine rather than Turkish.

It was here that I had the best hummus of my life! It was from a little shop that has been in business for hundreds of years and was served at the neighboring restaurant where they poured hot brown butter, toasted pine nuts, sumac and fresh parsley over it. It was magic on a plate!

The food I experienced in Anakya was some of the best I had in Turkey. If you are visiting the country I suggest you get off the tourist path and explore the southeastern region there are so many treasures, like this hummus, to find.
